Preschool Philosophy

We are parents of three young children. We share with you the longing to see our children grow up happy, confident, and healthy. We want our children to be responsible, to be internally motivated, to know and develop their unique strengths and abilities.  These are the things we want for your child as well.

In our preschool, it is our goal to assist families in providing children with the tools and experiences that will enable them to grow into happy, healthy, responsible adults. We believe this can be accomplished in the following ways:

1. Preserve and nourish a child's natural passion for learning.

Having a passion for learning is really essential for a rewading and productive life. Luckily, children love to learn. They are curious and full of questions. Simple things fill them with awe and wonder. By honoring and encouraging these natural inclinations in children, and by sharing our own joy in the learning process, we can help preserve a passion for learning that can stay with a child through-out their lives. This passion for learning can in turn set a child on the path to self-reliance and open the doors of opportunity for them through out their lives.

2. Provide regular opportunities for children to experience success as learners and celebrate those successes.

As children experience authentic success as learners, their joy in the learning process takes root. Additionally, the belief that "I am good at learning" becomes a solid part of their self-concept. Developing this self-concept is one of the most important roots of confidence and  a successful life.

3. Assist children in discovering their own unique strengths and special abilities.

We do not all come from the same mold. We each have unique strengths and weaknesses. By learning our unique areas of strength, and by having opportunities to develop and celebrate those strengths, we develop confidence. We are prepared to make our unique contribution in the world. We learn that we don't need to be like everyone else in order to succeed.

Children and movement

Children love to move. To parents it may often seem that children are literally unable to stop moving. Perhaps this is because mastering themselves physically is not only a source of joy for chidlren, but also represents some of the most important and authentic "work" of childhood.

Also, kids who are regularly presented with appropriate physical challenges have the opportunity to learn important emotional and mental lessons in being brave, in overcoming obstacles,  and in problem solving.

We believe housing a preschool in a gymnastics facility is an ideal opportunity for children. With our trampolines, bars, pit, rope swings, climbing apparatus, and padded surfaces, kids will have plenty of opportunity for regular physical activity and fun.

We are both excited and honored to be offering our community a pre-school that will house the best of academics and the best of movement education for youth in our community. "ROOTS Preschool" really is the place for your child to be!
